I'm finishing up edits to my latest manuscript, THE LIFE OF GRACE. This story is featured on my home page, and I'm truly thrilled to share it. Set in Ohio during the turbulent 1970s, a little girl struggles to learn who a forgotten child can become. Her mother, caught up with Disco's Night Fever cares more about partying than caring for her youngest daughter. Grace barely remembers her father. The all-too-real fear of forgetting her dad altogether drives her to search for him and unlock the secret of why he left her behind years before. In this story, I wanted to explore the effects of emotional and physical abandonment on a bright young girl who desperately wants to be good. And how she's able to not only process her emotions but fulfill her drive to find a sense of family. Her journey is fueled by the basic need in all of us to find love and acceptance. Grace confronts the questions: Is the family we're born with our only link to having a family in life? Or, do we have the power, through love, to create our own?
